If you have duplicate contact records for the same person in 4aGoodCause, you can merge them. We identify potential duplicates as contact records with the same First Name and Last Name.

Follow these steps to find and merge duplicate contact records:

  1. Login to https://4agc.com as a Nonprofit User.
  2. Click on Contacts on the left menu.
  3. Click on Find Duplicates on the left menu.
  4. You will be presented with sets of possible duplicates.
  5. Each contact set will show you the Primary (oldest) contact record and other possible duplicate contacts created after that with the same name. You should see the name of the contact, the date when the record was created, and (if present) and email address for that contact.
  6. If you wish to merge the contacts in that set into one contact record click the Merge button next to that set. This will merge the data from newer records into the Primary contact. This will remove this set from this page.
  7. If you feel the contacts in the set are unique and not duplicates you can click the Ignore button to note those contacts as unique. These will be removed from this page and should not reappear unless a new unique contact is created with that exact same name.
  8. This page shows 10 possible duplicates at a time. Click Load More to show more if needed.

Please note:

When merging: notes, transactions and tags will be moved to the merged contact. If a single field (i.e. first name, email, or a custom field) creates a conflict, the information from the oldest contact will be used.
