Claude

Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic. Once you connect it to your 4aGoodCause account, you can ask Claude questions about your donations, donors, recurring gifts, campaigns, and more, and it answers using your 4aGC data. Claude can also turn what it finds into something useful, like a thank-you letter, a board summary, or a list of donors to call.

Before you start

• Turn on AI assistant connections in 4aGoodCause first. An admin must enable AI connections ot your account. See Connect 4aGoodCause to your AI assistant for those steps.

• You need a Claude account. If you don’t have one, go to https://claude.ai and click Sign up. You can start with a free account and upgrade later. Custom connectors are available on the Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, and Free users are limited to one custom connector. To compare plans, see Claude pricing.

• Set up the connection from the Claude website or desktop app. New connectors can’t be added from the Claude mobile app, but once it’s set up you can use it there.

• Review your privacy settings. Follow the Protect your donor data section below before connecting your account.

Protect your donor data

Your 4aGC data includes information about your fundraising, so make sure Claude isn’t using your conversations to train its AI models. How you do that depends on your Claude plan.

• Team or Enterprise plans (recommended for organizations). On business plans, your data is not used for model training by default. No changes needed.

• Free, Pro, or Max plans. You need to turn off training yourself before you connect 4aGoodCause:

  1. In Claude, click your name or initials, then click Settings.

  2. Click Privacy.

  3. Under Help improve Claude, click the toggle to turn it off.

Once the setting is off, Anthropic won’t use any new chats with Claude to train future models.

How to connect Claude to 4aGoodCause

Step 1: Copy your connection URL from 4aGoodCause

1. Log in to https://4agc.com as a Nonprofit User.

2. Click Settings on the left menu.

3. Click Integrations.

4. Click AI Assistants.

5. Copy your Connection URL.

Step 2: Add 4aGoodCause to Claude as a custom connector

If you have a Free, Pro, or Max plan:

1. Log in to https://claude.ai.

2. Go to Settings > Connectors.

3. Click +, then Add custom connector.

4. Name the connector 4aGoodCause.

5. Paste your connection URL from 4aGoodCause.

6. Click Add.

7. Sign in to 4aGoodCause when prompted to approve the connection.

If you have a Team or Enterprise plan:

Only an Owner or Primary Owner can add custom connectors to your organization. Your Owner adds it once, and then each person connects their own 4aGC login.

1. Your Claude Owner goes to Admin settings > Connectors, clicks Add custom connector, enters the URL, and clicks Add.

2. Each team member then goes to Settings > Connectors and finds the connector with the Custom label.

3. Click Connect and sign in to 4aGoodCause when prompted.

Step 3: Start asking questions

Open a new chat in Claude and ask a question about your fundraising, like “Which donors gave last year but haven’t given yet this year?” The first time Claude uses 4aGoodCause, it may ask your permission before looking up your data.
