If your organization provides a good or service in exchange for a donation or event registration then part of that gift is non-tax deductible. 

For example, if a donor makes a $100 donation but receives a tote bag with a fair market value of $10 then only $90 of the gift is tax-deductible.  $10 is non-tax deductible. 

Should you need to, you can note the amount of a transaction that is non-tax deductible on the transaction record. This value will be used to help calculate the tax deductibility of gifts on a donor's annual giving statement (coming soon to 4aGoodCause). 

Follow the guides below to either manually set this amount or have our system automatically set it (on online registrations).   

Set Amount Non-Tax Deductible on a donation

  1. Login to https://4agc.com as a Nonprofit User.
  2. Click on Donations on the left menu. 
  3. You will be presented with a list of your donations.
  4. Click the row of the donation you need to edit.
  5. Click the Edit button. 
  6. Enter your value into the Amount Non-Tax Deductible field.
  7. Click the Update Donation button.

Set Amount Non-Tax Deductible on a registration

  1. Login to https://4agc.com as a Nonprofit User.
  2. Click on Registrations on the left menu. 
  3. You will be presented with a list of your registrations.
  4. Click the row of the registration you need to edit.
  5. Click the Edit button. 
  6. Enter your value into the Amount Non-Tax Deductible field.
  7. Click the Update Order button.

Use the Fair Market Value campaign setting to calculate and auto-populate Amount Non-Tax Deductible for online registrations

Event registrations are often where support is given that is not wholly tax deductible. When someone buys an event ticket or sponsorship that person often receives a benefit for that purchase.

As you configure your event campaigns in 4aGoodCause you can set the Fair Market Value of any ticket or product you are selling. When someone places an order online we'll use this value to calculate the overall tax deductibility of the registration.  

Follow these steps to edit an existing campaign and set the Fair Market Value for a product or ticket you are selling online. 

  1. Login to https://4agc.com as a Nonprofit User.
  2. Click on Campaigns on the left menu. 
  3. You will be presented with a list of your current campaigns. 
  4. Click the Menu icon on the right for the campaign you need to edit.
  5. Select Edit from the menu. 
  6. Click the Event Page tab. 
  7. Scroll down to the  Create Tickets / Products section.
  8. Click the Settings link of the product you wish to edit.
  9. Enter the Fair Market Value of the product. 
  10. Scroll down to the bottom of that page to click the button to Update Event Page.
  11. Now when a donor orders online from this campaign we will automatically calculate the Amount Non-Tax Deductible and record this value on the registration record.
